Mission
The Helicopter Association International (HAI) is a non-profit, professional
trade association of over 1,400 member organizations from 70 nations.
Since 1948, HAI has been dedicated to promoting the helicopter as a
safe and efficient method of transportation, and to the advancement
of the civil helicopter industry.
HAI distributes informative publications for the benefit of the helicopter
operator and the general public. The award winning Helicopter Annual
continues to be the unrivaled reference source of the civil helicopter
industry. Other publications include ROTOR Magazine, Operations (monthly)
and Maintenance Updates (quarterly), regulatory newsletters, and Preliminary
Accident Reports, as reported by the FAA and NTSB, compiled and published
quarterly.

HAI Fly Neighborly Guide
This guide is an outline of HAI's Fly Neighborly Program, a voluntary
noise-reduction program designed to integrate helicopter operations
into the community. It contains a helicopter noise reference charts
that helps determine noise levels of specific aircraft models or aircraft
of a specific gross weight, as well as manufacturers' recommendations
for flying various models in the quietest manner possible (1993, 63
pages).
The guide is available in 81/2 x 11 and pocket size. The pocket guide
only contains aircraft information useful for pilot's. (Price: first

Fly Neighborly Kit
The Fly Neighborly Program is a voluntary noise reduction program designed
for helicopter operators. The program has been implemented throughout
the world and includes all types of civil, military, and government
helicopter operators. The Fly Neighborly Kit is a comprehensive training
package for helicopter operators, and a complete educational tool for
government or civic organizations interested in the operational guidelines
of helicopter noise abatement procedures. The kit includes a Fly Neighborly
Handbook, Fly Neighborly Pocket Guide, the all-new "Fly Neighborly"
videotape, the all-new video, "Helicopters and the Community,"
a Fly Neighborly brochure, a Fly Neighborly training syllabus, and noise

Six Heliport Case Studies
This report documents six case studies of actual heliports around the
country. These facilities include both successes and failures. Such
studies can help heliport developers achieve a greater success rate

"Flying Neighborly" is designed to educate helicopter pilots
on noise abatement procedures while flying in noise-sensitive areas.
"Flying Neighborly" concentrates on the technical aspects
of flying rotorcraft more quietly commensurate with safe flying practices
and procedures and is designed for pilots and more aviation savvy audiences.
Helicopters and the Community
Helicopters and the Community" is designed for presentation to
non-aviation audiences such as civic organizations, legislative and
regulatory audiences and others, and focuses on the various public uses
of helicopters and their impact to the community. The video also contains
information on how the helicopter industry and pilots strive to ensure
the practical use of quiet flying techniques, and includes a discussion
of the benefits of a strategically located heliport network in our cities
and municipalities.
Heliports: Gateway to the World
Focusing on the value of heliports and helistops to local communities,
this 17-minute video is designed to encourage local governments and
communities to include helicopters in their transportation planning
process, and help ensure the availability of suitable helicopter landing
facilities in metropolitan areas.
Lets Go Fly a Helicopter (for kids)
An exciting video field trip to learn about helicopters and the people
who build, maintain and fly them. The video features exciting on-location
footage, kid-friendly narration and a lively adult-friendly musical
soundtrack. Footage includes: helicopters being manufactured, cockpit

Airports Handbook
The Airports Handbook is essential reading for individuals and groups
interested in becoming more involved in the well being of their airports.
Relevant issues such as airport noise and community animosity are dealt
with in detail, along with guidelines for possible solutions. This guidebook

Mission
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association was incorporated in 1939
by five prominent Philadelphia businessmen, including Wings Field founder
J. Story Smith. Since then, AOPA has not deviated from its charter to
help the nation's pilots keep general aviation flying safe, fun and
affordable. The Association now represents some 370,000 pilots, well
over half of all active pilots.
